Cruise

A cruise gives you six to eight hours on the ground, not six months. Full fluency is not the goal. Knowing the ten phrases that unlock a taxi, a market stall, and a real conversation with someone who is not selling you a magnet is.

These guides are built around that constraint. Instead of trying to teach a language in a single port day, each one identifies the highest density phrases: the ones that do the most work in the shortest time, for the specific port you are actually docking at. Barcelona for La Rambla and tapas, Rome for the Colosseum and the ride back to Civitavecchia, Buenos Aires for Puerto Madero and San Telmo, Lisbon for Belém and the trams.

Start with the playbook if you want the general method behind picking those ten phrases for any port. Start with a specific city guide if you already know where you are docking. Either way, this is language for eight hours on the ground, not a semester, and it is built to be practiced on the ship before you ever step onto the pier.
